Spray Foam Insulation in Grand Rapids... our Specialty!
We are an insulation contractor that specializes in spray foam insulation in Grand Rapids and most of West Michigan. Foam is the highest performing insulation available today. We spray both soft and hard foams. For new construction we often use both products because each has unique features that benefit you or your customers. The best time to get us involved is during the design phase. Foam provides solutions for challenging design issues that conventional insulation can not solve. Creating a air-tight thermal envelope dramatically effects the heating and cooling load. Precicely matching the HVAC system is very important. If you are a builder or homeowner, consider hiring us as your insulation expert in Grand Rapids.
A new service we are offering is home energy auditing. I am a licensed HERS home energy rater. Home energy ratings provide a standard measurement of a home’s energy efficiency. Ratings are used for both and new and existing homes. In new homes rating often verify energy performance for the ENERGY STAR homes program, Federal Tax Credit, energy efficient mortgages, and energy code compliance. Homeowners who want to upgrade the home’s energy efficiency can use the energy rating to evaluate and pinpoint specific, cost-effective improvements. For existing homes, homeowners can receive a report listing cost-effective options for improving the home’s energy rating. An energy rating allows a homebuyer to easily compare the energy performance of the homes being considered. This process tests homes as a system.
Why are we moving in this direction?
Having insulated many new and existing homes over the past number of years a survey was taken with the homeowners. It became apparent that a wide range of performance was being realized even though the insulation recipe for each home was very similar. After further research along with specific testing, it was determined that each home was very consistant in tightness. We found that the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning, (HVAC) system sizing varied significantly. When an airtight shell is produced and tested the HVAC system must be precisely sized to that specific load. Over sizing the system can reduce efficiency significantly. Working closely with the HVAC contractor is a very important part of the construction process. Properly sizing the HVAC system optimizes the benefits of foam insulation.
